Across from the Hardees in Pittsboro on East Street is a vacant lot where people used to wash cars. Currently, Noel’s fruit stand sets up shop there and there are a few abandoned cars lying around. Is a new convenience store coming to this lot?
The land was purchased to install a large convenience store, however, some people in the Pittsboro government didn’t like the idea and permits were not issued.
Additionally, a new proposal (overlay zoning) was put in place to restrict uses and certain new businesses from opening within a quarter mile of the center of town. Many people disliked the overlay and it is expected to be revised and passed.
